This seminar briefly reviews some of the changes in the relevant for fire suppression Standards from the current Building Code referenced Standards to the latest Standards issued by NFPA. The topics in the presentation will include:
Pressure reducing requirements for standpipe systems
Standpipe zoning and related fire department connection requirements
Comparison with sprinkler (NFPA 13) zoning requirements
Andrew Harmsworth of GHL Consultants Ltd will give us a presentation on the new BC Building Code change that will allow the construction of 6 storey wood frame apartment buildings. The presentation will review the process that was used to analyze this change and the rationale for this change.

Timothy Carman of Tyco Fire Suppression will give us a presentation on the new AUQASONIC hybrid water mist that uses nitrogen to atomize and discharge the water mist into the protected space. The presentation will review the basic fire principles of water mist, the appropriate uses and risks best protected with water mist, and will cover the technical details of the Auqasonic system.
